Rookies

Weymouth Canoe Lifeguards in conjunction with Boscawen Lifesaving & Rescue Club assist in the running of Weymouth & Portland Rookies. Weymouth & Portland Rookies is a club based at Osprey Leisure Centre, Portland which runs on a Saturday evening from 17:30 till 19:30 hours and is aimed at the 8 to 13 year old. Weymouth & Portland Rookies follow the RLSS UK (Royal Life Saving Society UK) Rookie Lifeguard training programme, as well as learning how to safely handle Canoes and Powerboats. This is a fun club, aimed at making youngsters aware of water hazards and teaching them how to be safe, whilst enjoying both inland and coastal waters, as well as training basic life support. The RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard programme is structured and progressive levels of achievement are awarded with certificates to show competency.
